The President of Latvia visits IIR

The President of Latvia visits IIROn the 3rd of September, 2010 a meeting between students, graduates, teachers and the President of the Republic of Latvia (1999-2007) Mrs. Vaira Vike-Freiberga took place in the Hall of Academic Council of the Institute of International Relations of Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University.

During her speech, Mrs Vaira Vike-Freiberga talked about the most pressing issues of international relations as a common security policy of the European Union and the principles of NATO. Students and graduates asked about the attitude of Mrs. Vaira Vike-Freiberga to the questions of introducing visa-free regime between Ukraine and the European Union, the attitude to creation of a gas consortium and the experience of relations with national minorities and language issues.

The meeting ended with the greetings of the Directorate of the Institute, medal of honour presentation and the good wishes of Mrs. Vaira Vike-Freiberga.
