Associate Professor of Law of the Private International Law Department of the Institute of International Relations of Kyiv Taras Shevchenko National University Alexander Biryukov took part at international annual two-day conference that was organized by the International Association of Restructuring, Insolvency & Bankruptcy Professionals – INSOL International. The conference was held at one of the most prestigious hotels of United Arab Emirates, spectacular city of Dubai – Madinat Jumeirah.
Alexander Biryukov received an invitation to take part at the conference from Academics’ Committee of this international organization. The Chair of this Committee is the most famous scholar in the sphere of bankruptcies, and recognized specialist in cross-border insolvency Professor Ian Fletcher.
Insolvency specialists from around the World discussed vital problems in the area of international bankruptcies, perspectives and ways of developments in this sphere of national legislation in different countries and practice of its application.
Plenary meetings addressed the hottest issues of international bankruptcies. Certain sessions were devoted to such topics as surviving in an economic downturn; government intervention or interference into bankruptcy cases; state aid to financially troubled state-owned and private companies; role of the regulators; personal insolvency; and others. Some sessions addressed narrow topics: this time – the problems in the automotive industry and bankruptcy of banks.
International Association of Restructuring, Insolvency & Bankruptcy Professionals – INSOL International is a world-wide federation of national associations for accountants and lawyers who specialize in turnaround and insolvency. There are currently 40 Member Associations world-wide with over 10,000 professionals participating as members of INSOL International.
