Background on the Department |
With Ukraine gaining independence, a need for highly qualified specialists in international finance has arisen. That was the reason why the Department of International Foreign Exchange, Credit and Financial Relations was created in May 1999 thus becoming the first ever educational hub providing qualification in international finance in Ukraine. The first years of existence of the Department (1999-2000) witnessed the process of the financial science think-tank being formed. Soon thereafter, in 2001, the Department started an active campaign for enrollment of new specialists by launching postgraduate studies. In December 2008, the Department was given a new name, the Department of International Finance. The Department has substantial scientific and research capacity consisting of academic and teaching staff of 8 full-time employees, including 3 Doctors of Science (economics), Professors (Oleksandr Rogach, Igor Puzanov, Sergiy Tsyganov); 5 PhDs, Associate Professors (Oksana Snizhko, Nataliya Kuznetsova, Pavlo Dziuba, Maxim Beznoschenko) and 1 Assistant Professor (Nataliya Fareniuk). Involvement of the Department in the European-based TEMPUS Project titled the Study of International Finance in Ukrainian Universities has become an outstanding event in the life of the Department. It enabled the Department to give launch to a new specialization, the International Finance, within the study curriculum in international relations and to introduce widely-recognized international standards for teaching international finance. |
