History of the Chair		The specialty “International Economic Relations” was founded in 1972. In 1974 at Faculty of the International relations and international law at the State Kyiv Taras Shevchenko University “the Chair of International Economic Relations” (IER) has been created. The chair was formed by 5 Professors: Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Budkin V., Associated Professor, Ph.D. Eremenko O., Associated Professor, Ph.D. Lykashenko V., senior teacher, Ph.D. Bykov G., and senior teacher, Ph.D. Bugas V.. Professor Budkin V. was at the Head of the Chair. In different years at the Head of the Chair were: Associated Professor Eremenko O., Professor Klimko G., Associated Professor Voloshin V., Professor Filipenko A. Since 2008 year Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Snyrkov A. is the Head of the Chair. Since 1998 year due to changing the one-level to thee-level education system on bachelor, specialist and master degrees and substantial deepening in normative content and special courses which are provided by the Chair, the Chair was renamed as the Chair of “World Economy and International Economic Relations”. Former faculty members include: Bykov G., Bugas V., Butenko O., Burakivsky I., Dudchenko M., Karpynsky I., Klymko T., Krasylchuk V., Kusherets D., Lashko V., Linevych O., Liasota O., Maksymentsev M., Rechmedin A., Reshetniak M., Rostov Ye., Rubtsova M., Sikora V., Tronenko V., Usmanov I., Filonenko A., Finogin S. The Chair has research contacts with related chairs of foreign universities in Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Poland, Russia, the United Kingdom, the U.S., and other countries. In 1991 the Center for International Studies was established within the Chair, in 2002 establishment of the Center for Market Conditions Globalization Studies followed. Activity of the Specialized Research Council for thesis defense for Doctor and Candidate of Economics degrees promotes development of schools of economic thought. Both Ukrainian citizens and citizens from actually all the continents have received Doctor or Candidate of Economics degrees at the Council. Three research schools have developed at the Chair: school of Professor O. Shnyrkov – the European Union in global economic environment, school of Professor A. Filipenko – World economy and international economic relations, school of Professor A. Rumiantsev – National interests in international economic relations. In recent years faculty members of the Chair published more than 50 monographs and textbooks, including: Lutsyshin Z. (2002) Transformation of World Financial System under Globalization, Filipenko A. (2002) Civilization Dimensions of Economic Development, Filipenko A. (2006) International Economic Relations: History, Filipenko A. (2007) Global Forms of Economic Development, Filipenko A. (2008) International Economic Relations: Theory, Shnyrkov O. (2003) Competition Policy of the European Union, Shnyrkov O. (2005) Trade Policy of the European Union, Shnyrkov O. (2008) European Union in Global Innovation Space.
