History of department |

The department of the international information was founded in June 1993. The founder and head of the international information department was Professor V.P.Gondyul, an outstanding education worker of Ukraine, who has made a valuable contribution to the development of the speciality «the International information». Professor V.P.Gondyul developed a great number of normative and special courses. Within the framework of the speciality «the International information» the department of international communications and public relations was created on 4 May 1998. The first head of the department (1998 - 2001) was G.G.Pocheptsov, Doctor of Philology, professor, an outstanding journalist of Ukraine, the researcher of problems of the theory of communications, PR, information warfare and the author of many scientific works. During the period of 2001-2007 the department of international communications and public relations was headed by Doctor of political sciences, professor Ye.A.Makarenko, corresponding member of International Personnel Academy under the auspices of UNESCO, member of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, member of the Society of Foreign Policy of Ukraine, Honoured Science and Engineering Worker of Ukraine. In autumn of 2007 two departments were transformed into one, named «International information». Today the department of the international information is headed by the Doctor of political science, Professor Ryzhkov Nikolay Nikolaevich. A highly qualified scientific team and teaching staff work at the department: professors, doctors of sciences – N.N. Ryzhkov, Ye.A.Makarenko, N.A.Ozhevan, Yu.V.Romanenko; associate professors, candidates of sciences - S.I.Danilenko, I.A.Valevskaya, E.V.Shevchenko, N.P.Litvinenko, V.V.Matveev, A.M.Stepko, I.V.Chichkan, O.N.Andreeva, N.B.Belousova; assistant professors, candidates of sciences - O.N.Frolova, O.Yu.Zaporozhets, E.P.Kuchmiy, E.L.Dobrzhanskaya, J.O.Panchenko, N.A.Pipchenko; assistant professors - A.G.Dereviyanko, S.I.Boychuk, N.B.Melnichuk; researchers, candidates of sciences - G.A.Piskorskaya, A.Yu.Hlystun, E.V.Shvets, I.A.Kisarets. The teaching at the department is carried out on the basis of the branch standard of higher education of speciality «International information» for the Bachelor and Master degrees. The database «Scientific researches at Kiev Taras Shevchenko National University» for monitoring of scientific studies was created on the base of the department. The department initiated the opening of the Centre of cooperation with European Union at Kiev National University (within the framework of scientific program RP-6 (2003-2007)). Due to the efforts of teaching staff and researchers of the department the scientific and practical basis for the training of international information analysts for the state institutions, security, defense and law enforcement agencies, banks, research instituations and corporations have been created. The researchers of the department have elaborated image and branding strategies to improve international reputation of Ukraine and approbated the researches in conducting electoral campaigns at the national and local levels. Textbooks, manuals, study guides have been prepared according to the new fields of scientific research, innovations have been included into curriculums (credit-modular system, system of selective courses, distance learning, multimedia and Internet technologies), new syllabuses have been written and a number of researches have been conducted by the request of official (state) bodies and organisations. The original research school of the information paradigm of global development and international relations was formed on the basis of the department. The scientific subsection of the department has been working actively since 2002. Within the topic of the Institute of International Relations of Kiev Taras Shevchenko National University “International legal, political and economic bases of the development of Ukraine” researchers investigated a problem of "Informational and analytical support of foreign policy of Ukraine» (the head of subsection - professor Ye.A.Makarenko). During 2006 - 2008 within the framework of scientific topic «Integration of Ukraine into the European legal, political and economic systems» the researchers investigated problems of integration of Ukraine into the European information space. The results of researches are implemented in monographs, collections of scientific publications, reference books, manuals, textbooks and offered in the form of recommendations for Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Ukrainian National Council on Television and Broadcasting and other state institutions. Today the head of the scientific subsection is Doctor of political science, Professor Ryzhkov N.N. The main topic of research is the use of communication technologies in foreign policy of Ukraine. The authority of scientific school is confirmed by the international conferences which are organised and held by the department almost every year («Universities - International relations - UNESCO», «Modern diplomatic service: gender aspects», «Youth for the information society», «Human rights begin with the child’s rights», «Universities - Information society - UNESCO», «International information security: actual challenges and threats», «UNESCO - Cultural and media variety - Ukraine» and a lot of others). The department provides advisory assistance in the editing of the student's newspaper "Mezhdunarodnik". Under the auspices of the department Youth Organization of UNESCO which is a member of the World Federation of Youth Clubs of UNESCO works and actively participates in the international activity, in particular in the charitable events for the sake of orphanages as well as in the programs against AIDS. The department cooperates with the leading scientific research institutes of Ukraine: National Institute of International Security Problems of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine; information offices of foreign diplomatic missions in Ukraine: Mission of the European Commission to Ukraine, NATO Information and Documentation Centre, British Council, Goethe Institute; non-governmental organisations: K. Adenauera's Fund, Information Bureau of the Council of Europe, Fund "Revival" and research and educational institutions of Europe. Graduates of the department work in the governmental institutions, banks, corporative organisations in Ukraine and abroad, in particular in the Presidential Secretariat of Ukraine, in committees of Supreme Rada of Ukraine, in diplomatic corps of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, in Council of National Security and Defence of Ukraine, in Security Service of Ukraine as well as in the leading Ukrainian mass media, higher educational institutions, etc. |
