From 1997 year the department is headed by the doctor of historical sciences, professor Volodymyr P. Kryzhanivskyy. He graduated from the historical faculty of the Kyiv State Taras Shevchenko University in 1971; in 1998 underwent the training course in the Institute of international relations of the Warsaw University (Poland). Sphere of scientific interests: political history of Ukraine and Russia of the first quarter of ХХ century, historiography, political science of international relations. Ph.D thesis „Political struggle on municipal elections in 1917 in Ukraine” was defended in 1974, doctoral dissertation „Bolsheviks and parliamentarism in Russia: historiography of the problem” was defended in 1992. He made speeches on more than 20 international and interuniversity conferences (Kyiv, Moscow, Berlin, Warsaw, Snina, Uzhgorod). Positions in the Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University: assistant (1973-1974), senior lecturer (1974-1976), associate professor (1976-1992), senior scientific employee- doctoral candidate (1988-1990), deputy head of department (1986-1988), professor (from 1993), deputy director of the Institute of international relations (1993-2007), head of country studies department ( from 1997). Courses of lectures: „ Country studies of the CIS” „ Methodology of teaching at high school” „Foundations of scientific researches” „Fundamentals of country-specific studies” „General history of state and law” „History of state and law of Ukraine”. He is the scientific adviser of 12 graduate students and applicants of Ph.D degrees. Rewards: „Excellent employee of education of Ukraine”, award of the Supreme Council of Ukraine, prize of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, award of the Ministry of Foreign affaires of Ukraine, has a rank "Honored employee of education of Ukraine". |

Ivan I. Nikolaenko (20.06.1930, Starosil'tsi village, Korostyshiv district, Zhytomyr region) Doctor of historical sciences, professor. He graduated from Zhytomyr State Ivan Franko Institute (1953). 1973-74 - associate professor of the history faculty of the Kyiv University; 1975-1984 - dean of the preparatory faculty; 1981-95 –head of department of humanities, 1990-92- first deputy director of IIR Kyiv University; 1997-95 - head of department of comparative political science and regional studies; from 1997 – prof. of the department, leading scholar. Adviser of the Havana University of Republic of Cuba (1984-85). “Honored employee of education of Ukraine” (22.06.2000). He was awarded the order of Labour Red Flag (1973) and medals. Academician of the Ukrainian Academy of political sciences (1997), honorary academician of World University Association “ Plato”(2001). He makes researches on political history, history and international relations of Ukraine. Methodology and organization of scientific researches. He is the author of over 130 scientific and scientific and methotodological works, handbooks. Including 12 monographs, 11 works were printed abroad. |

In 1969 defended Ph.D thesis « Socio-economic development of Afghanistan in the years of two five-years plans» . 1962-2001 - assistant, associate professor of the department of the New and Newest history of the history faculty, history and law of the Asian, African and Lat. American countries of the International relations and law department and department of comparative political sciences and regional studies of IIR, Kyiv University. Engaged in the study and teaching of the history of Asian and African countries, foreign policy of the African states, researched the problems of modern socio-economic and political development of Afghanistan. Has a rank of guest professor of the branch of the Institute of international relations in the International academy of Plato (Bulgaria). |

(08.05.1939, Maly Huliaky village, Popilnia district, Zhytomyr region.) Doctor of historical sciences, professor. Graduated from the International relations department of the Moscow State University of the MFA USSR in 1968. 1974 defended Ph.D thesis «Policy of the USA, Latin America during the Second world war (1939-1945)», 1984 defended doctoral thesis «Policy of the USA, Latin America, Caribbean countries in 1970th years». 1968-87 worked in Agrarian University. 1987-97 professor of the international relations and law department – IIIR, Kyiv University. 1997-98 consul-general of Ukraine in Brazil. Hi is specialist on issues of countries of Lat. America and Caribbean countries. Author of over 100 scientific works. |

Lecturer of the country studies department. Natalia S. Pogukaeva was born on March, 6, 1946 in Kharkiv, in the family of serviceman. Ukrainian. In 1968 year entered Kyiv State Taras Shevchenko University. In 1974 graduated from the historical faculty of the University. She has been working in the University from 1968 year on the position of senior laboratory assistant. From 1976 year works as lecturer, from 1986 senior teacher of the preparatory faculty for foreign citizens. From 1998 year –senior teacher of department of comparative political science and country specific studies of the Institute of international relations of Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University. Lectured courses: «comparative political science», «Country specific studies», » Ukrainian and foreign culture», conducted seminars from courses «History of Ukraine», »Political science ». From 2001 year she has been working on the position of senior laboratory assistant of the country specific studies department and as the supervisor of all types of practices in the Institute. Natalia S. Pogukaeva spares much attention to preparation of future specialists in the sphere of international relations. She was awarded the gratitude of Chairman of Kyiv city state administration in November 2000, has 15 letters of commendation of Kyiv National University, in connection with her 60th birthday she was awarded IIR silver medal and souvenir watch . In 2009 year she was awarded the valuable gift of the Ministry for foreign affaires of Ukraine – souvenir watch for significant contribution in training and education of national staff for MFA of Ukraine. She is the author of over 40 scientific works. |
Andriy A. Strilko |
(16.11.1944, Pereyaslivka village, Nizhyn district Chernigiv region – 2001, Kyiv). Candidate of historical sciences, associate professor. Graduated from the historical department of Kyiv University in 1969. 1997–2001 - associate professor of department of comparative political sciences and regional studies of IIR Kyiv University. Researched new and newest history of Latin America, Ukrainian- Latin America relations, migratory processes and activity in the region of ukr. religious and culture elucidative organizations. Lectured of world history and Country studies of the Latin American states. The author of more than 70 scientific, popular science works, including monographs: Slavonic population in Latin America countries. (1980), Latin America in the fight (1982). |

12.05.1937, Kupyansk, Kharkiv region – 1999, Kyiv). Candidate of historical sciences, associate professor. Graduated from the philosophical department of Kyiv University in 1966. 1966–73 worked as a lecturer, senior lecturer, associate professor of social sciences department of the preparatory faculty for foreign citizens, 1981–90 – international relations and law department of Kyiv University . 1990–95 - associate professor of the humanitarian disciplines department, 1995–96 –comparative political science department and regional studies of IIR. Researched people's movements in Ukraine in XVII – XVIII centuries. Lectured political history of ХХ century. The author of 17 teaching-methodological publications, including – five manuals for study of students-foreigners. |
Zoya I. Khizhnyak |
(6.07.1931, Maydanivka village, Zvenygorod district, Cherkasy region.) Candidate of historical sciences, associate professor. Graduated from the historical department of Kyiv University in 1955. 1971–73 - teacher of the social sciences department of the preparatory faculty for foreign citizens, 1973–92 – the faculty of humanitarian disciplines of international relations and law department of Kyiv University. From 1992 works in Kyiv Mohyla Academy. Researched history of Ukrainian Cossacks, Kyiv Mohyla Academy, creative inheritance of Gr.Skovoroda. Published the number of scientific works and scientifically-methodological materials. |
Sergiy O. Shergin |
(26.08.1947, Oleksandrovsk-Sakhalinskiy, Sakhalin region, Russian Federation). Doctor of political sciences, professor. Graduated from Kuybyshev pedagogical institute in 1974. 1993 – 97 –worked as the professor of regional studies and comparative political science department of IIR Kyiv University. 1997 – 2002 - on diplomatic service. From 2002 – head of department of the Diplomatic academy of Ukraine at MFA of Ukraine. Basic scientific interests: question of global development and international relations in the Asiatic-Pacific region. |

(27.06.1937, Reshetilivka urban village of Poltava region – 21.01.2008, Kyiv), candidate of historical sciences, associate professor. Graduated from Poltava State pedagogical Institute named after V.G. Korolenko in 1960. 1992–2002 worked as the associate professor of the international relations and foreign policy department, and also comparative political science and regional studies of IIR Kyiv University. 2002 – 2005 - head of department of the Kyiv Slavonic University. Specialist in the history and foreign policy of Ukraine. Author of textbook „Foreign policy of Ukraine from the oldest times to 1945 year”. Has gratitude from President of Ukraine and letter of commendation of the Minister of education of Ukraine. |

(01.01.1935, Lozyvok, Cherkasy region) Candidate of historical sciences, associate professor. Graduated from historical-philosophical department of Kyiv University in 1961. 1984–91 worked as lecturer, associate professor of department of theory and methods of lecture propaganda, 1991–95 – department of humanitarian disciplines, 1995–2000 – comparative political science and regional studies department of Kyiv University.
