THE HISTORY OF THE CHAIR |
The chair of international organizations and diplomatic service was founded in 1992 for scrutiny in the Institute of international relations the grounds of diplomatic and consular service, diplomatic protocol and eticet, the history of Ukrainian diplomacy, theory and practice of multilateral diplomacy (international universal, regional and specialized international organizations), the diplomatic practice of special missions, international conferences, forums etc, which is necessary for preparation of specialists in the field of foreign policy and for national diplomatic service. The scientific staff of the chair consists of 7 scientific-pedagogic officers, 3 of which are doctors of sciences –prof. Matvienko V.M., prof.Ckorokhod Y.S., associated prof. Iakovemko N.L., 2 candidates of sciences – associated prof. Shynkarenko T.I., teacher ShpakovaN.V., candidate of political sciences, assistant professor Kovtun O.Y., assistant professor Sapsay A.P. Also are invited to work part-timely in the Chair: the head of Department of etnohistoric studies of the Kuras Institute of political and ethnic studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine doctor of history, professor, corresponding member of Academy of Sciences of Ukraine V.F.Soldatenko, officer of the Protocol department of the President of Ukraine, candidate of historical sciences, associated professor Reznichenko V.I. For conducting the master classes Ukrainian Diplomacy and Diplomatic Working are invited: the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, candidate of political sciences Zlenko A.M., Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, rector of the Diplomatic academy of the Ministry of foreign affairs of Ukraine, doctor of history, professor B.I.Humeniuk. The Chair was led by: 1992-1994 candidate of historical sciences, associated professor M.A.Kulinych (at the present moment Ambassador of Ukraine to Japan), 1994-2003 doctor of history, professor B.I.Humeniuk (now Ambassador to Cyprus, Rector of the Diplomatic academy). From November 2003 the chair is led by doctor of history, professor V.M.Matvienko. For a long time the chair had working outstanding Ukrainian diplomat and scientist V.S.Bruz, who was the deputy head of the Anti-aparteid UN committee from 1983 to 1990 associated professor Rylach V.O., who is from 2002 the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Lebanon Republic. The scientific activity is concentrated on scrutiny of the theory and practice of activities of international organizations, actual questions related to Ukrainian presense in international universal and refional organizations, the problems of development of diplomatic service of the modern time and diplomatic protocol, the history of diplomacy of Ukraine. Whilst 1992-2008 the Chair had prepared more than 30 PhD (candidates of sciences) and 4 doctors. The staff of the Chair prepared more than 20 monografies and study manuals. Every year the Chair conducts scientific conferences, where also participate PhD students, students of the Institute, officers of the Ministry of foreign affairs, officers of the international organizations. The chair inter alia has sustainable links with international diplomatic units in Ukraine. Latest five years the Chair provided new study courses:
